Qualcomm® StreamBoost™

Today’s home networks suffer from network contention. More devices connect to display, download and stream more content every day, and all of these devices and applications compete for limited bandwidth on existing Internet connections. Latency, jitter, and packet loss increase as these application streams collide, fighting for network priority. As the home network performance degrades, the user experience suffers.

Qualcomm® StreamBoost™ will change all this, giving home networks the intelligence needed to manage multiple content streams and devices today and in the future.

A Better Home Network

Qualcomm StreamBoost-powered routers automatically give all your devices and applications the bandwidth they need for the best online experiences. High-priority applications are assigned protective “conduits” that give applications the bandwidth required and protect that bandwidth, so that everyone in the home has the best network experience no matter the application.

Latency-sensitive applications like video chat and online games get high priority, while streaming videos are assigned medium priority, and high bandwidth, low-sensitivity applications get the lowest priority. This way, users don’t experience any problems with content that matters most, while other content continues to arrive without interference.

A Smarter Home Network

Through regular, cloud-based updates, a StreamBoost router can grow to identify more and more applications and devices to ensure optimal performance. New devices are automatically recognized and added to the home network throughout the life of the StreamBoost-powered router, so home networks continue to evolve with newer generations of technology.

An Easier Home Network

For the first time, now you can see all PCs, tablets, phones, TVs and other devices on your network, the application they’re using, and the bandwidth they use - all in real-time. With an intuitive user interface accessible from any web browser, Qualcomm StreamBoost makes your network easy to navigate and understand.

Qualcomm partners are scheduled to introduce StreamBoost technology in home gateways throughout 2013. Check back often for news and updates about StreamBoost.
